Ayako graduated from Japan's Toho Gakuen School of Music with a Bachelor of Music degree. Subsequently, she attended the Indiana University School of Music, one of the top music schools in the United States, on a full scholarship.
She studied with Yuval Yaron, winner of the Gold Medal of the Sibelius Violin Competition and of the Indianapolis Violin Competition, and graduated with a Diploma in Violin Performance.
She was the Leader of the Asian Youth Orchestra for several years and also performed as a soloist in her native Japan, in Europe and in Canada. She now lives in Hong Kong and currently is the leader of the RTHK String Quartet which exclusively performs and records for RTHK Radio 4.
